Deltron 3030, the hip-hop super group comprised of rapper Del the Funky Homosapien, producer Dan the Automator and DJ Kid Koala, visited The TLA Sunday night. The tour was in support of their second album, Event II.

This tour seemed like a mirage as a follow-up album had been rumored since soon after their self-titled debuted 13 years ago.

The group was accompanied by the 3030 Orchestra which consisted of guitar, bass, drums, backing vocalists, horns and strings. They played songs from both albums as Dan danced about the stage dressed as a composer with matching baton.

The crowd was ecstatic at getting to finally hear these songs live especially with live instruments in place of samples from the albums.

For people who don’t know the name Deltron or any of the individual members, then you will probably remember their work from the first Gorillaz album including the hit single “Clint Eastwood.”

Hopefully, Deltron will get a taste of that sort of success themselves. During a song break Dan told the audience that the group would be performing their song “City Rising From the Ashes” on David Letterman tonight.

Kid Koala opened the show on his own with a great DJ set which included Beastie Boys, Big Boi and his own original children’s song composed for Yo Gabba Gabba.
