This is Hardcore Day 3 with Intern Bree.

It’s hard to believe today is the last day of This is Hardcore 2013. So much music has been packed into the last couple of days. Philadelphia’s own Beware was one of the bands to kick of the afternoon. They opened up with a Let Down introduction which was cool for me because I grew up in the Doylestown hardcore scene. Teenage flashbacks… all good times.

Boston area bands like World War 4, Defeater and Rival Mob all put on a great set… but my favorite was definitely Rival Mob (see our interview with them a few posts back as part of our pre-show coverage).  Frontman Brendan Radigan is always so much fun to watch. He is constantly moving and gives off so much energy it is infectious to the crowd.

Photo2The night progressed and the Electric Factory seemed as it was about to burst with people.  Eventually there was a push to keep spectating people off the stage, and when Ceremony played, 40 or so people from the crowd rushed it anyway. It was chaos, but in the most fun way.

Everyone there had personal favorites of the night. A majority giving it to Judge… but what I found more interesting overall about the night was the people. We interviewed more and more people and we found that music was almost seemingly secondary to the reasons they came out to This is Hardcore.  Many people would relate TIH to a family reunion or seeing old friends. These comments really speak for what type of a person is pulled to the hardcore scene and how much it really is a community.

We rounded out the night up at a TIH after show at Kung Fu Necktie with Whirr, Nothing and Daylight. The sold out show was loud as anything, and a perfect way to cap off a completely full Saturday.

Check out our Instagram to see some live action from the night, including Beware, Rival Mob and after show favorites Daylight (if you have not listened to Daylight yet, we seriously recommend you get on that as soon as possible. They are loud, and they are extremely good at what they do).

In keeping with Jump tradition, we decided this year to put the people to work and make them jump at This is Hardcore (again). Here are some of our favorites from the night telling us why they love This is Hardcore.

Check back tomorrow for Day 4 coverage as more “Jumpers” make their blog debut. This is Hardcore 2013 runs from August 8th-11th at the Electric Factory. Tickets are still available for each day at the door.
