Detroit guitar duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. made their first appearance in Philadelphia Saturday
night at Fishtown’s Kung Fu Necktie. The pair of Josh Epstein and Daniel Zott joined forces by chance only a few years back, out of admiration for each other’s separate musical projects.

They’re currently traveling the States on their first major headlining tour in preparation for their highly-anticipated first LP It’s a Corporate World, due out June 7.

Saturday night’s set was loaded with the band’s hypnotic dance pop rhythms, blazing electric guitars and ethereal, Beach Boys-style vocal harmonies. They also provided one hell of a light show, as well as a bubble machine, which floated millions of tiny bubbles into the constantly-dancing crowd at the best of moments. Apart from all the well-received originals, Dale added a fitting cover of Pet Sounds hit “God Only Knows,” and, in their encore, a rousing rendition of
Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love.”

The above video is the opening of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.’s set, the first single off It’s a Corporate World, “Morning Thought.”
